Hi everyone, I hope your children enjoyed the extra day off this week. Just a couple of friendly reminders: We are having a mystery art fair tomorrow. Each child was to have selected an item from their house that they think could be considered art. It does not have to actually be a piece of art, and I would not want anything of great value to be brought to school. The children will be bringing in the mystery art piece tomorrow, and they should have emailed me a description of their piece without actually telling me what it is.
The emails will be gathered into written format, and the students will be given the time to use their inferencing skills to try to match up the descriptions with the art. This should be a lot of fun. Pleas ask your child what item they picked and emphasize to them that it needs to be at school tomorrow. Please ask them if they emailed me the description.
Another bit of information: There is not a spelling test this week. TIS students, as a whole are excellent spellers, and this will be a review week for words. We will work on the pages in their book, but there will not be a test.
Math test on Thursday: This Thursday students will be taking a math test over Chapter 5. You might quiz your child over the concepts of adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators to see how they are doing. We have been reviewing in class and I think that everyone is doing great.
Slide Rocket Presentations: I was very pleased with everyone’s first slide on their Unsolved Mystery project. This week another slide is due. It is the introduction slide. This should not be in paragraph form, but rather bullet points. It should be just like an introductory paragraph in that it tells us what they are going to be teaching us. This slide is due Friday. Please email or call if you have any questions about this assignment.
Well, that is all I can think of for now. Thanks for sharing your kids with me. I love teaching them!! Kelly
